Minutes from December Meeting were corrected under New Business to change GSO to GSR and approved as submitted.

DCM Report – Jeff – Update from our Delegate (Vicki) December ACM meeting:  Pre-Conference Opinion Polls:  Our conference communications kit which includes the preliminary agenda, were mailed out December 30th.  I know from our last assembly that the DCM’s want to receive the Delegate Polls as soon as possible and I really need to see the agenda to know what information I need to request from you.   There is one way you can always keep your district up to date and that would be when you receive the conference recommendations and the conference additional considerations from your delegate upon their return from NY, you can take note of any items that were referred to the next years conference.  If you discuss these in your district and come up with any suggestions for your delegate please write it out and pass it on to them.  That kind of information and participation is invaluable.

Update on Vicki’s Conference Committee:  Vicki received two updates from the literature committee, one was highlights from the last board meeting and she wanted to bring to our attention the item we discussed at our last assembly regarding a pamphlet for Intergroup/Central Offices was tabled to the January Board meeting.  This may very well become an agenda item; it would be helpful to Vicki if we would discuss this at our district and bring back our feedback to the January assembly before she attends the board meeting.  The other matter of importance is the 3rd edition of the Spanish Big Book.  They have received 130 stories to date and feel it would be ideal if the stories represented a wider-range of Spanish speaking alcoholic.  It was decided not to rush the selection process so they have decided to extend the deadline until June 1, 2006.

DCM report continued: (Jeff) I have been asked to bring some names of people in the district who have not ever presented before to present at the pre conference workshop in March.  - Alberto as asked all members of the Assembly to start thinking about hosting an Old Timers event early as not to have the mishap that happened this year.  Event will be in October 2006.  – Next Assembly is a week from this Sunday.  All members of district 17 really need to be present at the Beverly Garland Hotel on Vineland.  – Also, Saturday February 4th comes before our next district meeting, so I’ll remind you now that the GSO time slot is 9:00am – 10:30am at the SFV Convention.  Nina and Larry E. should be there slightly before 9am as they will be reading at the beginning of the meeting.  It has also been brought to my attention that we’ll needs some volunteers to sit at the GSO display in the lobby of the Convention on Saturday this was told to me by the last person that hosted it… The Chairman for the event left that part out.  I will have a list going of times you can sign up and commit to cover at the GSO table.  Table will include the Area literature display and some items that can be given away.

3        Open Discussion … What’s going on with your groups.  Jeff shared that he attended the Radford meeting with Rosemary to explain the District contributions.  It was not successful as Radford sees itself as autonomous and has been operating this way since 1949.  Lisa explained how she passes a can every other meeting for contributions and gives a brief pitch on GSR service.

4        It was brought of for discussion that the Area 93 minutes are still not available in a timely fashion.  Much information is not being passed to our groups in a timely fashion.  It was discussed at length and a motion and vote decided that our DCM Jeff would let the Area officers know in an e mail that we as a district are dissatisfied with Jess’s service to the Area.
