District 17

Maureen

July 2, 2007

I attended the Delegate Day on June 16th and it was great. Three GSRs from District 17 attended, Mark, Tom C. and Robert.

Two meetings from District 17 have been selected to receive the random “Group Membership” survey in July.  Pass it on Men’s Stag and 60 Minutes of Serenity. This is a survey AAWS conducts every few years to capture the demographic of our fellowship which helps the newcomer.  If you go to the AA web site you will see the results of the last survey, which I believe was 2003.  This information is also shared with the professional community.

I e mailed you all that District 1 is hosting a Traditions Workshop at the Hole in the Sky on Saturday, July 21st from 2 – 5:30.  They asked if we wanted to participate as a co-host?  $20 as possible cost.

I received one response of a not able to participate.  How about the rest of you?  - We decided to spread the word to our meetings, but not participate as a co-host.

I attended the Budget setting meeting this past Saturday which was an informative experience.   Our Area contributions are not increasing.

I’ve handed out a copy of the Grape Vine and would like you all to remind you meetings what a great tool this is and if you don’t currently subscribe as a GSR it is important that you do.  It’s great to give as gifts to sponsees/sponsors; travel and just to have a meeting whenever you need one. Our Delegate mentioned that if each District were able to initiate four new subscriptions the Grape Vine would be in the black.

I’ve also handed out the one sheet for the Area Archives in Oxnard.  Please remind you meetings that this is available for them to visit and there is a meeting every Saturday.  The Area needs the support.

I also e mailed you all a copy of Jeff’s wonderful Area Newsletter so please share this with your meetings as well.

Thank you all for allowing me to be of Service.
