DCM Report – Maureen
I attended the Area Committee Meeting on Sunday, February 17th in Goleta. The March 2 day Pre-Conference Workshop and Assembly has changed locations and will be held a the Ocean View Elementary School.
I’ve handed out the Pre-Conference Agenda as well as the Agenda Items. Please get this information to your meetings. Jeff reminded all those who will be presenting at the Pre-Conference Workshop or PRAASA to use the tools available for research. NY General Service Office, they will answer questions, the Grapevine archives on line, AA Comes of Age as well as the Big Book, the12 and 12 and AA literature.
Greg M. will be stepping down as the General Manager of General Service Office in NY after 7 years. He will also be the banquet speaker at PRAASA.
The Big Book has been translated into AMHARIC which is the language of Ethiopia. Also the Big Book and the 12 and 12 are available on CD. It was also suggested that when GSRs receive the Box 459 Newsletter they should then give this to the meeting to keep with the literature.
Area 93 is hosting a booth for GSO at the National Association of Black Social Workers Convention at the LAX Hilton April 1-5. Kevin the PI chair is looking for volunteers to man the booth and carry the message about what AA is and is not. Please let me know if you are interested in participating.
There are several major cities who presented bids to host the 2020 International AA Convention including Los Angeles, Detroit, Denver, New Orleans, Minneapolis and Vancouver. Area 93 agreed to write a letter of support for Area 5 to host and assist them.
I also attended the 4 Area DCM Share on Saturday, February 23rd which was wonderful. It was such a great experience to discuss with other DCMs how this all works and be with people who are so passionate about service. There were some great suggestions I will share with you after March.
Thank you for letting me be of service.
