Minutes from April meeting were approved as submitted.
DCM Report-Jeff-said the GSR 101 Workshop went extremely well. We had a turn out of over 30 people. Jeff said a good number of GSR's were persons with 6 months or less in their commitment. He stated that he was always learning in General Service. He also said that as DCM he learned that each DCM in the Valley is trying to better serve their districts and that each district is involved in different activities. So while we haven't been as involved in community efforts as some of us would like to see, we have really gotten our own affairs in order; with the addition of the checking account and P.O. box and are now equipped to handle groups who wish to contribute financially, but not send a GSR to district. We can now move out into the community and carry the message to those who still suffer. He also said he hopes, in the coming months, we can bring to the district ideas of how to reach out to the communities. He also said that if you would like to see the district active in certain community projects, than you need to participate. He stated emphatically
THE DUTIES OF A GSR ARE OUTLINED ON PAGE S-24 OF THE SERVICE MANUAL.
ALT DCM REPORT-MAUREEN- she said that she attended her first Area committee meeting and
the good news is we have a checking account! Maureen also said that Vicki, our Area delegate will be giving her report about her participation in the General Service Conference at the Area assembly on May 21.
TREASURER REPORT-MELANIE B.- Finance Report for April and it was approved as submitted. We now have a
checking account and used our first starter checks. Melanie said we will deposit majority in cash and keep $ 100-200
in petty cash for regular expenses. We got our first donation thru our website from " Live and Let Live" Sunday 6:30 group . It was for $70. Yeah! Melanie thanked Jeff, Richard and Maureen for organizing checking account. For those wanting to make donations via our website it is :

NEW BUSINESS:
1 Open Discussion ... What's Going On? Mark talked about his feeling stuck in service. Maureen let everyone know that Vicki our delegate will be giving her report from her trip to New York and it is open for Members to come and listen. I believe this will be at the next Area assembly. Richard F said collecting funds from his meeting is like the Barry Manilow song: Two ships that Pass in the Night; can you ask for back money? Jeff said however your group wants to donate -each group is autonomous. Jeff also said we serve our groups - to get involved in PSA'S , bus ads, benches, metro; emphasized the need to go to assemblies- you get great ideas at an assembly; ASSEMBLY IS HUGE/ MAKE IT OUT THERE! Again please read p. 24 in service manual- duties of a GSR are outlined. Jeff said it is important to participate at the Area - it will be more exciting for Dist 17 GSR'S. Nina proposed a book drive- maybe over the summer. Richard W said I keep showing up for myself. " participate to the best of his ability in " GSRDOM". Jeff appointed an Ad hoc committee for Steve and Nina to see what we can do to help senior centers , libraries, and high schools, by carrying the message. We agreed to have a report next month.
