Suggested to read by the Area Article 6 ( of the conference charter) and consider whether to have it at all or make modifications; may be a vote in the future. Next district meeting we will hold elections for district officer positions; Jeff asked Richard to give a five minute presentation on what it "means to be available"; which we heard under new business. Jeff also said he hoped we have talked to our groups about possible funding to the 2 day assembly in Tehachapi; very interesting election; learned about the spirituality of "going to the hat" and more about the 3rd legacy procedure. Our newly elected Pacific Regional Trustee Madeline Parmely will be there; He also said that Sunday Oct 8th Spanish districts are putting on FORO event in North Hollywood; all are encouraged to attend.

4. PI work in San Fernando Valley- Bus Bench Query - Karen brought it to her steering committee
strong opinions against it- perceived as a violation of tradition. Rosemary's group wanted to know if AA's name was involved. Maureen said it is to inform/ use Dist money to support project- the alcoholic who still suffers is a PSA (public service announcement) . Jeff said he would make himself available to inform groups who had questions. Richard said what is difference between advertising and PSA? Maureen said we are paying for it. Richard suggested putting together PSA/ Advertisement something that describes the difference between them. There was lots of discussion on this; Jeff said he would find it in the service manual what the difference was. And asked how many districts it is being presented to.

Treasurer, Alt DCM, DCM - very time consuming; its important to check with your sponsor, family members;
Am I available to do this position; it's very important to keep the commitment. Am I qualified and willing to show up; General Service boils down to for him a "real growing experience". wants more interaction with the Area as a whole- he likes Dist 17 ; he will be standing for dist 17 position this time and said he is not that thrilled with the Area. S.19 in the Service Manual was his favorite part of the book. "Ensure recovery for alcoholic who still stumbles" " permanent haven for all alcoholics" " doors of AA never have locks on them"
