Minutes from August Minutes were approved as submitted.
DCM Report -
Jeff thanked the 17 GSRs who attended the August Area Assembly.  Jeff also mentioned that District 17 was invited to attend   FORO (Spanish speaking assembly) on October 9th.
Alt DCM Report - Chris was not in attendance.  Richard W. introduced the two new GSRs Leslie and Robert.
Treasurer Report - Melanie B. distributed the financial statement for August. We are current on all debts. Report was approved as submitted.  Melanie explained to the new GSRs about the proper split for group contributions and handed out the pamphlet on money and spirituality.

Area Standing Committee Reports: 
Archives
:   Lisa - They are still searching for a permanent location to store the Archives in the Santa Clarita area.  She said they also handed our information on how to properly archive items.   Larry E. was in attendance and suggested a site in Topanga.  Criteria for archive storage and display includes temperature control and at least three rooms.  Archives are presently stored in Ventura in boxes with no display ability.
CPC/Treatment Facilities: Richard  F.- The district was given a binder of CPC/Treatment guidelines for reference. Richard was also given information on how to get involved in CPC and how to properly approach the professional community to work with them.
Finance: Jeff - The 2006 area 93 budget has been prepared and will be presented to the Area at the November Assembly.  The Delegate’s NY trip is now a line item in the budget.  The new Area 93 CPA is handling the federal and state pending tax status issue.  All tax mail for Area 93 will be sent directly to the new CPA.
Grapevine/LA Vina:  Chris N/R
Guidelines and Policies: Richard - The 1st vote was taken on changing the G&P to reflect the division of Grapevine and La Vina as two separate committees.  2nd vote will be taken at November Assembly.  Chair for District 17 is vacant as Richard W. is departing the chair.
Literature/Audio Visual/Newsletter: Steve - Please send stories or events to the Area 93 Newsletter.  The Area purchased a new mobile TV to travel with AA videos.  These are available for free to any meeting who would like to host a showing.  Please contact John at 805-452-8589.
Public Information / Accessibility/ Website:  Maureen - attended the Accessibility portion of this committee.  Lisa from District #1 is working on a project to give Big Books to GLADD.  She also began a meeting in her area for Police Officers.  If you are interested in being of service and taking anyone who is handicapped to meetings, please contact your local Central Office.
Registration: Laura - N/R
CO liaison - Mark - The Santa Paula area has a desire to open a Spanish Speaking Central Office.

SFV Intergroup liaison: Mark -With Richard W. leaving the Chairperson position open at Central Office, the present Co-Chair moves up to Chairperson.  His name is Michael Flynn.  An election from the existing pool of Intergroup Reps will determine who replaces Michael as Co-Chair. SFV Central Office needs donations.  Richard added that the Santa Clarita Central Office opened September 1st and their phone number is 661-250-9922.

Old business:

1.        Richard thanked the ad-hoc committee and presented us with a proposal for a domain name, the cost of registration and the cost of maintaining the web site for two years. Domain name one dollar for five years (from Richard W.) URL district17aa.org = $100 for two years. Domain name is registered for 5 years as.  All approved. 
2.        District workshop "topic  was tabled for future discussion.
3.        Jeff is still searching for a location to host an Area Assembly in January or March ’06.

New Business:


1        Richard W. presented us with changes to the G&P incorporating the Area 93 information on having a web site, including the new position of Web Master.  The 1st Vote was taken and all approved. Jeff will serve as the temp Web Master.                All agreed Richard rocks!

        Birthdays in September - Anthony 15 years 9/5

        Richard W. is moving to Mexico.  He will continue to serve as a past DCM and we are welcomed to call him any time.  Richard’s service to District 17 is invaluable and he will dearly missed.
