Bridging the Gap is a temporary contact program through which A.A. members connect with people leaving treatment facilities and help introduce them to meetings. It's suggested that you take the newcomer to a variety of meetings, introduce him or her to other AAs, insure that he or she has phone numbers of several AA members and share the experience of a sponsor and a home group.
The intent is to provide the newcomer with your help for a limited time. Experience suggests that men work with men and women work with women.
